'SWITCH Africa Green' is a project developed to support job creation in Africa's growin

SWITCH Africa Green (SAG) project is developed and funded by the European Union and implemented by United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS). SWITCH Africa Green has been developed to support African countries in their transition to an Inclusive Green Economy and in promoting a shift to Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) patterns and practices. The project countries are Burkina Faso, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa and Uganda.

The project has three components - policy support (component A), green business development (component B) and the networking facility (component C). Under the Green business development component the project supports the transition towards an inclusive green economy by providing grants to MSMEs in the 6 project countries to enable them develop green businesses or apply sustainable consumption and production practices. The grants for the first call for proposal were issued on 1st July 2015 to 6 projects in Ghana, 4 projects in Kenya and 6 projects in Uganda. The grants for the second call for proposal were issued on 1st November 2015 to 4 projects in Burkina Faso, 6 projects in Mauritius, 6 projects in South Africa and 3 multi country projects. Below is a list that outlines 34 SAG projects in the 6 pilot countries under component B with the key priority sectors and SCP (Sustainable Consumption and Production) practices.
