Sierra Leone: Climate change resilience becomes policy

Climate change has become one of the most challenging issues facing the world. Over the next decades, it is predicted that billions of people, particularly those in developing countries will face shortages of water and food and greater risks to health and life. Concerted global action is needed to enable developing countries to adapt to the effects of climate change. Developing countries are the most vulnerable to climate change impacts because they have fewer resources to adapt – socially, financially and technologically. It has far reaching effects on the sustainable development of these countries including their ability to attain the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

To help address issues of climate change in Sierra Leone, the Environment Protection Agency, Sierra Leone (EPA-SL), on Friday 21 July 2017, organised a one-day forum to popularise the Policy on Climate Change, which has been developed by the Climate Change Secretariat.
