Mauritius: Environment Ministry Organises Capacity Building Workshop On Vulnerability Assessment and

A Capacity Building Workshop on Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation conducted in the context of the Third National Communication for the Republic of Mauritius, an initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development, and Disaster and Beach Management, was held yesterday at InterContinental Hotel, Balaclava.

Present at the opening ceremony, the Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Reforms, and Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development, and Disaster and Beach Management, Mr Alain Wong, underlined that Small Island Developing States (SIDS) like Mauritius and countries in Africa are the ones which are being most disproportionately affected by climate change. And ironically, the emissions of greenhouse gases from SIDS amounts to only around 1% of the total global greenhouse gases emissions, he added.
