Growing Outcry Over Planned Funding Cuts to CSIRO
A chorus of international criticism over planned cuts to CSIRO climate-change science is growing louder.
Former president of Ireland Mary Robinson has spoken out about the proposed cuts, calling for climate science funding to be increased rather than cut.
“It is imperative that research funding levels are not just sustained but increased,” said Ms Robinson, who heads an international climate justice foundation.
“Research is an investment in our shared future – it is not a luxury.”
Ms Robinson’s comments were part of her lecture delivered last night at the University of Melbourne’s Sustainable Society Institute.
